SURFACE PREPARATION:Roofite Black Coating should only be applied to surfaces that are sound, clean, and dry. We recommend first cleaning the surface using Roofite Cleaner (see Roofite Cleaner TDS) and allow to dry prior to application. NOTE: Seal leaks before Roofite Black Coating is applied! For optimum results, repair all cracks, breaks, splits and holes by embedding fabric between 2 coats of Roofite Quick Patch Black applied over and at least 2 inches beyond repair. Small cracks can also be bridged by basic 3 course repair. Apply coating; then embed fabric into the coating – typically using hands covered with rubber gloves; then apply second coat of coating material.
APPLICATION: Temperatures should be a minimum of 40° F and there should be no threat of rain. The adhesives may thicken in cold weather. To improve cold weather applicability store unopened product in a warm place prior to use. Apply directly from the can; do not thin. Equipment and foot traffic should not be permitted on the new roof until the product has fully cured in order to prevent voids or blisters from forming at pressure points. Roofite Black should be applied evenly at a rate of 250 sq. ft. per 5 gallon pail, depending upon the absorbency of the substrate. It may be applied with a brush, roller or the preferred method on smooth surfaces, a notched squeegee with notches 1/4" wide and 1/8" deep spaced 1" on center. Excessive rates of application may damage the existing membrane and prolong curing time.
CURING TIME: Cure time will be between 24 and 48 hours; 30 - 60 days full cure.
COVERAGE: 250 sq. ft per 5 gallon pail @ 32- 64 mils wet film thickness
