Product Details remove

This solvent-free epoxy is a two-component primer for smooth, non-porous surfaces. It improves the adhesion of paint to difficult substrates. Powerfloat Primer is a two component, solvent-free epoxy primer designed to improve the adhesion of coatings to hard, smooth surfaces which usually reject paint. Top coat with most types of floor paint, however, avoid using any top coat which includes a strong solvent. This industrial epoxy floor primer is especially suited to Water-Based Epoxy Coat, Safety Coat, Epoxicote High Build, Chemi Coat, Chemi Coat Cold Cure, Safety Coat Cold Cure and Concrete Floor Paint. For any other coatings, we recommend a test for suitability.

Features and Benefits of Powerfloat Primer – Industrial Epoxy Floor Primer:

  • Easily applied by roller
  • Primes ceramic tiles before applying a slip-resistant coating
  • Suitable for power floated or glazed concrete, stainless steel & aluminum
  • For use in interior applications
  • Covers approximately 250 sq. ft. per 1 gallon kit. One coat covers most surfaces

Surface Preparation
The concrete surface must be clean, dry and free of loose material. New concrete should be allowed to cure for 28 days prior to coating. Remove oil, dirt, grease and other chemical contaminants by cleaning with detergent or other suitable cleaner. Rinse thoroughly. Existing coatings should be well bonded and sound.

Mixing
Combine the base and activator components. Use a paint paddle or spatula to scrape out and transfer as much of the material as possible. Mix the components thoroughly until an even, uniform color is achieved. If using a power mixer use a paint paddle or spatula to blend in any unmixed material from the sides and bottom of the pail. Do not delay application, usable pot life is 2 hours.

Application
Apply in a well ventilated area when the air and surface temperatures are between 50-85°F. Use a good quality lint free 3/8" nap roller with a phenolic core. A brush may be used for cutting in along walls. Avoid excessive film thickness. Compatible topcoats are: Water-Based Epoxy CoatSafety Coat and Concrete Floor Paint .
