Product Detail

Our industrial strength Concrete Floor Paint is a single component, urethane modified acrylic coating designed to be an economical way to brighten dull or stained concrete. This extra strength polyurethane formula is recommended as interior concrete floor paint for areas with heavy foot traffic and lightweight rubber-wheeled pallet trucks. Excellent for general purpose use in factories, showrooms, offices, schools and workshops where the easy removal of dust, dirt, oil and grease is needed.

Not only for the indoors, it can also be used as exterior concrete floor paint for surfaces like concrete decks, walkways, curbs, and parking areas. This fast-dry, water based coating requires only minimal surface preparation, offers low odor application, and soap & water clean up.

Features and Benefits of Industrial Concrete Floor Paint:

  • Easy to apply, fast drying & virtually odorless
  • Low sheen finish reduces reflection & glare
  • Hard-wearing & oil-resistant
  • Dust-proofs concrete and makes it easier to clean
  • Suitable for concrete, wood and metal
  • Covers approximately 170 to 270 sq. ft. per gallon
  • Ready to recoat in 4-6 hr., Ready for light traffic in 24 hr. - Two coats required
  • If painting new or bare concrete, prepare using Cemtetch® Self Etching Cleaner

VOC: <50g/L Industrial maintenance coating suitable for exposure to chemical mixtures and solutions as well as repeated industrial cleaning.

Warning: Cancer and Reproductive harm image

How to Apply

Surface Preparation
The concrete surface must be clean, dry and free of loose material. New concrete should be allowed to cure for 28 days prior to coating. Remove oil, dirt, grease and other chemical contaminants by cleaning with detergent or other suitable cleaner. Rinse thoroughly. Use Cemtetch® Self Etching Cleaner to remove unsound laitance and create a proper surface profile to the concrete. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry before application of the Concrete Floor Paint. NOTE: Concrete floors on grade must be free of moisture transmission from the ground. If there is any doubt about the dryness of the concrete, conduct a test by simply taping a piece of 4 mil plastic sheet 18" by 18" on the bare concrete for 24 hours. Be sure to tape all four sides. After 24 hours, check the concrete for signs of moisture. The concrete will be darker if damp. If moisture is found, allow additional drying time (10-14 days) and repeat test. Persistent moisture transmission will prevent proper performance of the coating. Please contact a Watco Industrial Flooring Expert at (855) 627-6350 for assistance.

Also, check for curing compound or other types of sealers by pouring a small amount of water onto the concrete. If water soaks in, the surface is suitable for coating. If water beads up on the concrete, the surface is not porous and a test application is warranted to ensure proper adhesion will develop. Sanding or mechanical abrading may be required if proper adhesion does not develop. Previously coated floors need to be in good sound condition with proper adhesion to the concrete substrate. Check the adhesion of the previous coating by cutting a small X in the coating using a sharp razor knife, firmly apply a piece of 2" duct tape over the center of the X cut, then pull off with a fast snap. The coating is suitable to topcoat if no significant previous coating is removed beyond the X cut. If the coating fails this test, then additional surface preparation is required. It is recommended previously coated floors be sanded and vacuumed prior to application of the Concrete Floor Paint.

Mixing
Use a paint paddle or power mixer to mix the material thoroughly until an even, uniform color is achieved. Be sure there is no unmixed material on the bottom of the container.

Application
Apply only when air and surface temperatures are between 50 - 90°F (10-32°C), surface is at least 5°F above the dew point and relative humidity is below 85% during and after application. Apply by roller using a good quality 3/8" synthetic nap cover. Avoid applying excessive material. Do not allow the coating to puddle. Recommended dry film thickness is 1½-2½ mils. On new or uncoated concrete, two coats of product should be applied.

Curing Time
Tack free dry time: 1-2 hours. Dry to recoat: 4-6 hours. Light foot traffic: 24 hours. Full use: 72 hours. Allow coated floor to cure 7 days before mopping or washing. Use an anti-skid floor coating additive for skid resistance where oil or water spillage is a problem.

Coverage
Coverage will vary with the porosity and the degree of surface profile of the concrete. For the purpose of estimating coverage, typically one coating should have a coverage rate of 170-270 sq. ft. per gallon.
