  • Easy to mix two-part epoxy resin formula
  • Cures rapidly to form a high build (250–300 micron thick) glossy coating
  • Hard wearing surface ideal for heavy use areas
  • Only one coat usually required (although rapid curing allows 2 coats to be applied in one day)
  • Virtually solvent-free formula which can be used over most existing paints and coatings
  • Will accept light traffic after 4 – 5 hours and normal traffic after 12 hours (at 20°C)
  • Approved for use on concrete with under floor heating systems (up to 30°C surface temperature)

How To Apply
Surface Preparation - Concrete
Concrete to be treated must be dry, at least four weeks old and free of any soft surface laitance, contaminants, and not subject to rising damp. All loose material should be removed. Very smooth bare concrete or concrete with soft surface laitance should be etched with Watco Cemtetch and the area thoroughly hosed off and allowed to dry. Grease or oil should be removed with Watco Bio-D (or a similar degreaser) and the area thoroughly hosed off and allowed to dry.

Surface Preparation – Painted Surfaces
Very smooth previously painted surfaces should ideally be abraded to improve adhesion. Clean and allow to dry.

Surface Preparation - Steel
Remove loose or flaking material, rust and any previous coatings by wire brushing or disc grinding to achieve a bright surface. Grease or oil should be removed with Watco Bio D and the metal then washed with water and allowed to dry. Coating should be carried out immediately providing flash rusting has not occurred.

Priming
Watco 4 Hour Epoxy Primer is recommended for open textured or very porous surfaces to prevent air bubbles appearing in the coating. Watco Powerfloat Primer is recommended before applying Watco Chemi-Coat Rapid to power floated concrete or to quarry tiles. Otherwise no primer is usually necessary.

Mixing
Do not mix more than one pack at a time. Remove the two inner tins from the tall outer tin. Pour all of the contents of the two inner tins into the outer tin (scrape around the inside of the tins to remove any residue). Mix the components together very thoroughly using a spatula or paint mixing blade (a wooden stir stick is fine too). It is quicker to use the Watco Paint Mixer, or a paint stirrer fitted to an electric drill, but you should also use the spatula to blend in any unmixed material from the sides and bottom of the tin. Continue mixing until an even color and consistency are obtained. Transfer the mixed material into a shallow paint tray and apply immediately.

Application
If appearance is critical we recommend the application of a small trial area first.

Apply by medium pile roller in warm, dry conditions. Do not apply at temperatures below 50°C or above 75°C. Watco Chemi-Coat Rapid may also be applied by brush to vertical surfaces, provided two thin coats are used to avoid sagging. For maximum chemical resistance and protection of the substrate, two coats are recommended. Some uneven surfaces may require more. Apply the first coat in the morning and the second in the late afternoon.
